Experiences in Nuwara Eliya

Tea Estates & Tea Factories

Nuwara Eliya produces the best Upcountry tea in Sri Lanka and is the “capital” of Ceylon Tea. Eternally shrouded in the hazy mist and winter weather, tea estates and factories are open to visitors to experience the British-Ceylon beginnings of tea in Sri Lanka. Today they are developed even further and produces a considerable portion of country’s tea exports.

Horton Plains

Renowned for its endemic species of flora and fauna, Horton Plains is one of the coldest locations in the country prone to strong winds. The beauty of the cloud forest and montane grassland speaks volumes of its rich biodiversity. A designated national park of more than 30 km² it leads to the fabled “World’s End”.

Single Tree Mountain

Situated almost at 7,000 feet of elevation the Single Tree Hill is a great vantage point for a panoramic view of the surroundings. As the name implies there is a single tree at the top. Climb this mountain in the morning to see a graceful sun rise.

Nuwara Eliya Golf Club

One of the oldest in Asia, the 18-hole golf club is a symbol of English planters’ leisure and interests. It was founded in the late 1800s, and reigns as a traditionally-driven yet modernly elegant place of recreation to-date. Situated just 1.5 kms away from Seasons Villa it is worth a visit to this mark of old English charm.

Gregory lake

Sri Lanka is no stranger to lakes of various sizes in the low-country built for agriculture. Lake Gregory stands out primarily as a place of gathering and recreation. The surrounding is bubbling with activity; you can enjoy a pony ride, grab a bite to eat, take a speed boat ride or simply just relax on the green grass.

Ambewela Farm

Due to the altitude of the area, Ambewela poses as an ideal location for dairy farming. Sri Lanka’s only milk powder factory is situated here catered to by two farms, namely “Ambewela” and “New Zealand” Farm. You can view the plump cows grazing and taste a glass of fresh milk at Ambewela.

Moon Plains

A vast open natural grassland, the Moon plains opens up to the “mini world’s end”, from where you can have a fantastic 360 degree view of the surrounding nine peaks. Moon Plains is home to a considerable number of flora and fauna species including 105 bird species, out of which 16 are endemic to Sri Lanka.

Galway's Land National Park

Galway's Land National Park covers an area of 27 hectares and is situated just 2kms from the Nuwara Eliya city. Despite its small stature, Galway's park is considered an important bird sanctuary. It houses close to 20 rare migratory species and 30 endemic species of birds as well as valuable flower species of both local and foreign origin.
